Essential Functions
- Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Maintains and repairs electrical systems. Installs new electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems.
- Maintains Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, and debugs control system programs.
- Calibrates electrical equipment as needed.
- Collects and analyzes data to ensure failure-free equipment and down time.
- Prioritizes tasks and determines proper corrective action.
- Makes inspections and evaluates acceptability of workmanship, materials, and completion.
- Maintains accurate files, records and documentation, and parts inventory.
- Responds timely to emergency calls 24 hours/day via cell phone.
- Performs work duties on weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education.
- Four (4) years relevant experience.
- Ability to work after normal business hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Proficiency in maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues efficiently.
- Understanding of calibration standards and procedures.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze operational data.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- Requires standing and walking most of the day.
- The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- The job requires frequent balancing, and occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, balancing, and occasional kneeling, jumping, throwing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
- The job requires the completion of tasks that involve typing, simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, operating foot controls/levers, driving automotive equipment, and working in darkness.
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
- The job may risk exposure to adverse weather, moving machinery, fumes and gases, electrical hazards, unprotected heights, and extreme noise.
