Commodities Portfolio Risk & Analytics

Cititec is working with a fund who are growing their Commodities Portfolio Risk & Analytics team. The team partners closely with portfolio managers across the commodities platform to deliver advanced analytics, develop portfolio optimization tools, and provide actionable insights that support disciplined risk taking and scalable growth of the business.
This position works directly with investment teams to deepen understanding of market fundamentals and trade-level risk, refine the research and investment workflow, and build quantitative frameworks that support portfolio construction and risk evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with portfolio managers and investment teams to evaluate market fundamentals and assess trade-level and portfolio risk
- Design, build, and enhance quantitative models used for portfolio construction, risk analysis, and optimization
- Generate data-driven insights that improve research workflows and investment decision-making
- Present analysis, recommendations, and strategic insights to portfolio managers and senior Commodities leadership
- Take ownership of analytical initiatives and proactively identify opportunities to improve portfolio analytics and risk frameworks
- Contribute to the development of scalable tools and best practices used across the Commodities investment platform
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in a risk analytics, quantitative research, or strategy role within a commodity trading firm, hedge fund, asset manager, or investment bank
- Demonstrated experience working closely with investment teams and explaining complex quantitative concepts to portfolio managers and stakeholders
- Strong expertise in at least one major commodity sector (e.g., energy, metals, agriculture)
- Advanced quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong academic background with a degree in a STEM discipline; an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is preferred
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, and tool development
Salary : $150,000 - $220,000
