What are the responsibilities and job description for the ICM Commercial Real Estate Credit Associate (Hybrid) position at Citi?
Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a new function in the 1st Line of Defense, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed across its Institutional Client Group organization. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit risk across the enterprise. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (ICM-UW) provides analysis, greenlight, underwriting, first-line-of-defense credit approval and subsequent credit monitoring across all ICG wholesale credit businesses including Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory (BCMA), Global Structured Products, Financings, and Securitizations (GSP-F&S), Treasury & Trade Services (TTS), Markets, and Securities Services (MSS).
The ICM Underwriting portfolio stripes are responsible for all underwriting activities within that portfolio, being a key partner stakeholder, alongside the Business and Risk, in ensuring that all credit decisions are based on best-in-class industry practices, and delivered on a quality and timely basis to the satisfaction of Citi customers.
The ICM Commercial Real Estate Credit Associate supports the Senior Underwriter and Underwriter in assessing and structuring complex transactions within assigned functional area for both business-as-usual and highly structured situations in the wholesale credit space.
The ICM Real Estate Credit Associate reports directly to the ICM Real Estate Credit Senior Underwriter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages are complete, accurate and thoroughly documented
Conducts analysis and structuring of credit requests for clients and prospects
In-depth analyses of financial data and other information provided by the client
Conducts projection modeling, stress testing and other analyses using research and evaluations from a wide variety of sources
Assesses deal strengths and weaknesses and risk factors
Ensures all transactions are in compliance with regulatory and Citi guidelines, policies and procedures
Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, and potential credit concerns and engages with ICM Early Warning, Collateral Management, and Transaction Management teams on resolving exceptions
Oversees periodic relationship credit monitoring including Annual Reviews (ARs), Quarterly Reviews (QRs), and Criticized Credit Reviews (CCRs)
Notifies bankers of any deterioration in operating performance based on financial reporting
Supports the Senior Underwriter and Underwriter during internal reviews (FCR, COBRA, IA) and external regulatory exam responses
Prepares quarterly and annual risk reviews and tiering analyses as appropriate and as requested by CCAR/CCEL or equivalent applicable processes
Expected to be fully conversant on safe and sound risk practices within Real Estate Credit including all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their Portfolio
Travel required (up to 25%)
Supports action plans to ICM Underwriting Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrable financial services experience, including 4-6 years of direct commercial real estate underwriting or credit experience in Banking or Credit Risk Management
Deep knowledge of Wholesale Credit Processes and organizational awareness including ICM Underwriting functions, covered portfolios, and processes
Proficient understanding of policies and procedures with the ability to execute change seamlessly
Credit Officer (CO) or demonstrating the skills aligned with that designation
Excellent and thorough knowledge of Citi´s systems
Significant experience in preparing presentations for seniors
Outstanding awareness and adherence to the control environment including Quality Assurance and Quality Control

DEGREE:
BA/BSc in Finance or Accounting or higher degree in Business (MBA), or any other related subject.
