GENERAL DESCRIPTION: CARES is seeking a science teacher that will provide a comprehensive and engaging education in life science and STEM electives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a rigorous life sciences curriculum that meets New York State Learning Standards and engages students in meaningful scientific exploration.
- Collaborate with the CARES PBL facilitator to create science electives to prepare students for STEM careers; Develop engaging, project-based learning experiences that promote active participation and critical thinking.
- Fulfill the CARES mission and vision by supporting instruction that aligns with the NYS Portrait of a Graduate Measures (innovative problem solving and critical thinking)
- Mentor and guide students in developing their own STEM projects and conducting hands-on research.
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress; use data to inform instructional decisions and provide feedback.
- Oversee laboratory activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed; teach students proper lab techniques and the use of scientific equipment.
- Adapt lessons and provide additional support to students with varying levels of ability and backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.
- Stay current with developments in life sciences education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and sta?; provide regular updates on student progress and classroom activities.

Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New York State teaching certification in science (grades 7-12)
- Experience in teaching life science/biology and/or science electives preferred
- Ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in science at the middle or high school level.
- Familiarity with laboratory practices and safety standards.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom
