Purpose:
The VIP Sewing Technician is responsible for producing high-quality sewn products for VIP and VVIP aircraft interiors, including soft goods such as seat covers, cushions, curtains, and trim panels. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and adherence to FAA Part 145 repair station standards. The technician works closely with design, upholstery, and installation teams to bring luxury soft good elements to life with precision and elegance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform advanced sewing technics including Leather piping stitching, flat stitching, decorative stitching, double-needle stitching, French seams, and hidden zippers for various aircraft interior soft goods.
- Fabricate and assemble seat dress covers, armrest covers, bulkhead curtains, cabin dividers, and other textile-based components according to design specifications.
- Operate industrial sewing equipment such as walking foot, single-needle, double-needle, and serger machines.
- Read and interpret work instructions, sewing patterns, and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with quality standards and FAA regulations.
- Collaborate with upholstery technicians to ensure proper fitment and finishing of sewn parts.
- Ensure precise material handling and cutting, including leather, UltraLeather, suede, Alcantara, sheepskin, and fire-retardant fabrics.
- Conduct visual inspections of finished components to verify seam integrity, stitch length, and overall craftsmanship.
- Maintain sewing machines and work area to ensure clean, safe, and efficient operations.
- Support documentation and traceability requirements per FAA Part 145 and company quality management systems.
- Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement efforts to enhance workflow and product quality.

Minimum Qualifications or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial or commercial sewing experience.
- Ability to read technical documents, drawings, and sewing patterns.
- Familiarity with hand tools and sewing equipment.
- Proficient in oral and written English.
- Must report for assignment with personal set of standard trade-specific tools.
Preferred Qualifications or Experience:
10 years of experience in aviation, marine, automotive, or luxury furniture upholstery or sewing.
Experience sewing with aviation-approved materials such as fire-blocking fabrics and treated leather.
Prior work in a Part 145 repair station or VIP/VVIP aircraft completion environment.
Knowledge of burn cert requirements and FAA documentation practices.
