CLIENT SPECIALIST/ APOYO FAMILIAR– YOUTH SOCIAL SERVICES (Full-Time)
Position Summary: The Client Services Specialist supports the delivery of youth-centered services across multiple Circuit Rider Community Services programs. This position works directly with middle- and high school–aged youth—many of whom are referred through probation, schools, or other systems of care—and helps them build life skills, continue their education, and develop career readiness. Responsibilities include supervision, mentorship, facilitation, transportation, and light program operations. The Specialist receives cross-training to work flexibly across programs including after-school support, workforce development, leadership development, restorative practices, and some environmental stewardship activities.
Bilingual Spanish-English fluency is preferred. This position requires availability to work on Saturdays, the ability to lead strenuous hikes, and participate in occasional overnight camping trips. Shifts often last until 8pm. All applicants must pass a criminal background check.
Examples of Duties to Perform:
- Supervise and engage youth during structured activities, field trips, and educational workshops—including Saturday outings and events;
- Provide mentorship and support to individual youth through check-ins and goal-oriented guidance;
- Co-facilitate group sessions and workshops focused on life skills, education, employment readiness, health, and communication;
- Transport youth to and from program activities using agency vehicles, ensuring safety and appropriate supervision;
- Support staff in maintaining clean, organized, and youth-friendly program spaces and vehicles;
- Participate in prosocial outings, cultural events, and community-based learning experiences;
- Assist with occasional outdoor and environmental education activities, such as park-based projects or nature outings;
- Lead and support youth on moderate to strenuous hikes in diverse outdoor environments;
- Participate in and help facilitate overnight camping trips, ensuring safety, supervision, and youth engagement;
- Communicate consistently with youth, caregivers, and staff in both English and Spanish;
- Document participation, progress, and incident reports with accuracy and timeliness;
- Receive training and serve flexibly across programs as needed to ensure continuity and quality of services;
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and culturally respectful program culture.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and twist intermittently throughout the workday;
- Repetitive hand and finger movement for computer and office tasks;
- Vision sufficient for reading, documentation, and safe driving;
- Ability to lift and move items (up to 75 lbs. with assistance);
- Capacity to drive for local and regional travel using program vehicles;
- Stamina to hike on uneven terrain for extended periods;
- Ability to camp overnight in outdoor settings, sometimes in variable weather conditions.
Qualifications:
- Deep commitment to cultural humility, equity, and unconditional care for youth;
- Experience working with adolescents ages 13–17, especially those impacted by trauma or involved in systems of care;
- College coursework or a degree in social work, education, psychology, youth development, or related fields;
- Bilingual and bicultural in Spanish and English (preferred);
- Competency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and online documentation systems;
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record;
- Must pass a DOJ/FBI criminal background check and be approved by the Sonoma County Probation Department to work with youth;
- Previous experience in community-based, school-based, or nonprofit youth programs preferred;
- Comfort and competence in outdoor environments, including hiking and camping with youth.
