Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in St. Louis, MO, for a Criminal Investigator at the Circuit Attorney's Office. The Criminal Investigator will be responsible for conducting thorough criminal investigations, gathering and analyzing evidence, collaborating with law enforcement agencies, and preparing detailed reports. The position involves working closely with prosecutors to build cases and present findings, participating in interviews and witness preparation, and adhering to legal and ethical standards in all investigative efforts.
Responsibilities
- Locating and communicating with witnesses and victims, including conducting interviews.
- Serving subpoenas.
- Transporting victims and witnesses.
- Retrieval of evidence from appropriate sources.
- Interacting professionally with and responding timely to attorney and staff requests.
- Supporting attorneys in preparation for and at trial.
- Successfully managing a robust investigative caseload.
- Working independently and as part of a team.
- Communicating effectively in verbal and written communications.
- Firearms proficiency preferred.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum of high school diploma or its equivalent.
- At least three years previous experience in law enforcement/investigation is required, preferably with criminal cases
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex information and data
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation
- Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques and procedures
- Experience with the use and function of police, court, and Windows operating systems is preferred.
