Line Cook- Cold

POSITION PURPOSE:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cold Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and strong knowledge of cold food preparation and presentation. This role requires attention to detail, organization, and a commitment to maintaining freshness, consistency, and high food-quality standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

• Prepare and plate cold menu items in accordance with recipes and established standards.
• Work assigned stations such as garde manger, salads, cold appetizers, antipasti, or raw bar.
• Set up and stock the workstation with required ingredients and equipment.
• Wash, cut, portion, and prepare vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats, garnishes, and sauces.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness, quality, and proper temperature.
• Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure orders are prepared accurately and on time.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the station throughout the shift.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, refrigeration, and allergen-control procedures.
• Monitor inventory and notify supervisors of shortages or quality concerns.
• Support a positive and productive kitchen environment through teamwork and communication.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• 2 years of experience as a Cold Line Cook, Garde Manger Cook, or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of salads, cold appetizers, garnishes, dressings, and cold food preparation.
• Strong knife skills and attention to presentation and portion consistency.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with refrigeration equipment, slicers, and other kitchen tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Culinary training or degree preferred.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION: 

• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Endurance to withstand long hours of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
• Lift and carry heavy objects, such as boxes of ingredients or pots/pans, weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Coordination to handle kitchen equipment, knives, and utensils safely and effectively.
• Flexibility to bend, stoop, reach, and perform tasks at various heights within the kitchen workspace.
• Ability to work in close proximity to others and collaborate effectively with team members during service.
• Adherence to proper lifting techniques and ergonomics to prevent strain or injury while performing job duties.
