Job Title: Upper School Chemistry Classroom Teacher (Part-Time)
Employment Status: Part-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Upper School Principal (7–12)
Start Date: August 2026
Work Schedule: 2.5 days per week to support instruction in a 90-minute block schedule. Specific teaching days will be determined in collaboration with the Upper School administration. Additional time may be required for occasional meetings, conferences, and professional responsibilities consistent with a part-time teaching role.
Job Summary: The Upper School Chemistry Teacher is responsible for teaching chemistry courses within the Upper School science program. Courses may include college preparatory chemistry or honors chemistry. The teacher will design engaging lessons and laboratory experiences that help students develop strong conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, and practical laboratory skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans and laboratory investigations using sound, research-based instructional practices. Chemistry courses include a significant laboratory component, and the teacher should be comfortable designing and implementing safe, effective lab experiences.
- Create a classroom environment that supports learning and is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of high school students.
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and understanding.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents through conferences, email, and other appropriate means.
- Integrate appropriate technology and laboratory techniques to enhance student learning.
- Maintain accurate and current records of student progress, achievement, and behavior.
- Work collaboratively with Upper School faculty and staff, including active participation in the Upper School science department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, chemistry, or a related science field.
- Valid Ohio teaching license for Adolescent to Young Adult (7–12) or High School (7–12) in one of the following areas:
- Chemistry
- Integrated Science
- Physical Science
- Comprehensive Science
- Two years of teaching experience or relevant field experience preferred, particularly at the high school level.
- Must be a committed Christian who is comfortable serving within a multi-denominational Christian school community.
