Established in 2006, CIM-Tech, Inc. has continued to expand its services from our
headquarters in Valparaiso, IN, catering to both domestic and international clients
across commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors.
CIM-Tech is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with a minimum 2 years of
experience for our Valparaiso office. The ideal candidate should be able to plan and
conduct work requiring judgment and application of structural engineering practices.
Responsibilities
Contribute to client meetings and develop proposals.
Prepare structural scopes of work and material take-offs.
Demonstrate understanding of statics, dynamics, steel design, and concrete design.
Exhibit basic technical report writing skills.
Understand construction drawings such as plans, sections, and details.
Stay up to date with structural industry codes, standards, and practices.
Perform and document structural calculations.
Design structural elements involving steel, reinforced concrete, and foundations.
Produce contract documents conforming to applicable building and/or zoning codes.
Collaborate with internal and external team members, contractors, and clients.
Develop drawings, conduct site visits, and assist Project Engineers or Senior Project Designers.
Receive technical guidance on engineering and design issues.
Verify field conditions, assess constructability of designs, and assist in resolving problems during construction.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural engineering.
Bachelor's or master’s degree in civil/structural engineering (from an ABET accredited college) with a focus on structural engineering preferred but not required.
Experience with AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with AISC Manual of Steel Construction, ACI 318, ASCE7-10, AWS D1.1 and IBC.
Experience with RISA, MATLAB, SOLIDWORKS, or other structural engineering design software is preferred, but not required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required.
