Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture (blood sampling) using proper techniques such as venipuncture and skin puncture to collect specimens from patients
- Prepare and process specimens accurately, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation in accordance with laboratory protocols
- Assist with patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and providing compassionate service to ensure patient comfort and cooperation
- Follow strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection and processing
- Maintain detailed records of all procedures, including specimen logs, test requests, and patient information
- Support laboratory operations by adhering to established procedures for specimen storage, transport, and disposal
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory techniques to ensure high-quality sample collection and processing
Experience
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting or hospital environment is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen handling is highly desirable
- Proven ability to perform venipuncture (blood draws) with confidence and professionalism
- Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting, demonstrating excellent patient service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy enhances accuracy and efficiency in sample collection
- Previous experience in hospital or clinical laboratories that involved blood sampling or specimen processing is advantageous
