Job Summary
As part of the Matthew’s Ministry team, the Special Needs Care Associate provides consistent, compassionate, hands-on care for participants with special needs, including individuals on the autism spectrum and other disabilities. This role lives out Matthew’s Ministry’s values of faith, safety, care, and support, with an emphasis on ministering to individuals of all ages with special needs so that Church of the Resurrection builds a dynamic Christian community that serves this population.
Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:

Position-Specific
- Work with Matthew’s Ministry staff to care for individuals with special needs during programming throughout the year.
- Keep participants and others safe, facilitate high-quality engagement and connection during programming, and help participants of all abilities practice their faith, learn from scripture, and experience the love of God.
- Provide direct care during weekend worship services and weeknight programming (currently Sunday morning and evening services and Wednesday evenings), at periodic special events such as Family Night Outs, and at other times as needed (e.g., Vacation Bible Camp).
- Work at least two programming days per month, unless otherwise arranged in advance with the Matthew’s Ministry Program Director.
- Arrive on time and participate in pre-service meetings, unless otherwise arranged in advance with the Matthew’s Ministry Program Director.
- Foster good communication with parents and fellow staff and represent Matthew’s Ministry well on and off the clock.
- Attend occasional staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of autism and other disabilities is helpful but not required.
- Knowledge of behavior management and applied behavior analysis
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve.
- Ability to reliably meet the scheduled shift commitments of the role.
