Special Needs Care Associate, Sonflower Adult Learning Program

Resurrection has an opening for a Special Needs Care Associate-Sonflower Adult Learning Program in our Business Operations division! The position is part-time, non-exempt and is located at the Leawood campus at 13720 Roe Ave. Please see below for a full job description. 

Job Summary  

The Special Needs Care Associate supports the church’s special needs ministry (Matthew’s Ministry) and the SALP by providing hands-on care for adult learners with special needs.  As a member of the Matthew’s Ministry Team, this team member partners with staff and volunteers to engage and encourage learners to reach their full potential. 

Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:

Position-Specific 

• Daily interaction with and direct care of adult learners.
• Partner with Program Director - SALP to equip and empower adult learners and volunteers to engage in program activities to their full potential.
• Provide hands-on assistance for adult learners and volunteers in all aspects of the learning program including devotion, bakery, art class, music class, recreation, community service, and other enrichment activities.
• Foster good communication with adult learners, parents/caregivers, volunteers, and fellow staff members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

• Minimum 1 year of experience working and/or volunteering with individuals who have special needs.
• Physical requirements: Ability to walk across campus buildings, standing for an extended period of time and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Proven results in working with individuals with special needs (autism, down syndrome, cognitive and physical disabilities), organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office is preferred.
