You’ll help create a safe, loving environment for infants and toddlers during service and small group meetings. This position is responsible for creating strategies that will engage children while also leading activities, and using creativity to teach weekly lessons, sharing Jesus with each child. Resurrection has an opening for a Nursery Program Director position at our Downtown campus! The position is part-time, non-exempt and is located at our Kansas City, MO location at 1601 Grand Blvd. Please see below for a full job description.


Job Summary  

The Nursery Program Director is the church’s leader over all preparation and organizing of Downtown Kids ministries and programs involving families and children (birth to 2yrs) at the Downtown location.  As member of the Downtown Kids Team, this highly organized team member will partner with the Downtown Kids Director to create strategies that will engage children and families in a variety of weekly programs, ministries and events specifically at Downtown. The Nursery Program Director will work alongside the Downtown Kids Director as well as the Kids Lead Director to build out and implement a calendar of engagement that will touch every child between the ages of 2 through 5 years of age (and their families) and support the overall connection with families at the Downtown location. This position will also be responsible for building a Nursery team comprised of staff and volunteers who are committed to discipling and shepherding our youngest children and families toward our purpose of becoming deeply committed Christians. They will help prepare and organize curriculum and classrooms for mid-week and weekend programming. This position works flexible hours throughout the week but also helps with weekly Wednesday night programming and once a month Sunday programming..

 Position-Specific 

  • Provide direction to ministries and programs for children and families through continual assessment and evaluation, holding ministry accountable to key metrics and benchmarks that not only track activity, but ultimately yield quantitative growth in engagement and participation. 
  • Develop or modify ministries and programs to meet the needs, fulfill the potential, and accomplish the vision of the Church of the Resurrection for our children and families.
  • Provide spiritual leadership, looking for opportunities to minister to and disciple and encourage others to grow in Christ through one-on-one conversations and invitations to discipleship opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor and provide direction to staff members who are direct reports. This includes ministry assessment and performance evaluation, goal setting, mentoring, spiritual encouragement, support, and conflict resolution.
  • Build effective teams, identifying high-capacity leaders and equipping people for ministry.
  • Recruit, manage, motivate, and equip volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other areas of ministry to design or deliver programming.
  • Support the direction of special events such as VBC, Trunk or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt or other conferences, meetings, seminars, or retreats.
  • Prepare and deliver messages and teachings in class, group or conference settings.
  • Counsel families and children regarding spiritual questions and concerns, directing them to further pastoral care when necessary.
  • Maintain an active and visible presence in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Ability to effectively manage large number of individuals and oversee multiple teams (3 or more years of experience preferred) 
  • Experience in a classroom, or similar environment, with direct, hands-on experience in implementing curriculum activities and classroom logistics.
