Church Custodian

The Church Custodian is a full-time position responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that the Church environment remains clean and safe, as well as assisting the school custodian in maintaining school buildings. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. This position requires someone who can work independently as well as collaborate effectively with others to accomplish daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize church, restrooms, parish hall, and other areas as needed.
• Empty trash and recycling bins, and dispose of waste in a proper and safe manner.
• Replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
• Keep sidewalks clear - leaf and snow removal when necessary.
• Set up and break down for special events, meetings, and school functions as needed.
• Follow cleaning schedules.
• Report any issues such as maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors.
• Maintain building security by locking and unlocking doors and windows.

· Notify supervisor of needed supplies and equipment for re-ordering.

· Perform related tasks as assigned.

• Strong work ethic with a focus on attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with parishioners, staff, students, and visitors.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• A team player who is willing to work collaboratively with others.
• Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude toward work.
• Physically capable of performing custodial duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Skill in performing building cleaning tasks & unskilled maintenance.
• Must pass a background check and meet any other required Archdiocese safety protocols.

Compensation:

· Pay commensurate with experience, $18.00-22.00 per hour
