Wage
: $25.13/hr DOE DOQ
Schedule: Wednesday - Saturday
4:00pm - 2:00am Wednesday
8:00pm - 6:00am Thursday - Saturday

Position Summary:

The Safety Team Coordinator helps ensure safe staffing and smooth operations at program sites operated by Church at the Park (C@P). This role is responsible for coordinating staff coverage, communicating incidents, and important updates, as well as responding to safety and security concerns. This position also requires following all organizational protocols, maintaining accurate records, and helping create a respectful, supportive, and equitable workplace for vulnerable populations.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years (2) experience in of social services or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred but not required.
  • Valid Oregon DPSST Basic Unarmed Security License
  • Knowledge of and experience using trauma-informed care principles required.
  • Demonstrate and experience mediating situations involving people with escalated behavior required.

Essential Functions:

An individual in this role must be able to preform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Maintain Safe Staffing Across Shelter Sites
  • Ensure all shelter sites meet the required safe staffing levels at all times.
  • Coordinate staff assignments and shift transitions to maintain safe operations.
  • Arrange shift coverage when staffing gaps occur or cover the shift personally if needed.
  • When covering a shift, complete all duties associated with that position before the shift ends.
  • Use trauma-informed care and an outward mindset to help resolve conflict among staff and residents in a respectful and supportive way.
  • During off-hours (weekdays and weekends from 5:00pm - 8:00am), monitor shelter site to ensure staffing levels remain safe and move staff between locations as needed.
Communicate Incidents and Important Information Effectively
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and pass-down notes in Homebase.
  • Email staffing updates to the on-call manager when needed.
  • Report incidents and important updated promptly using established communication procedures.
  • Follow C@P polices, procedures, and any applicable property-specific requirements.
  • Regularly check and respond to email, Homebase, and ADP for messages, schedule changes, and organizational updates.
Respond to Safety and Security Concerns
  • Provide calm, timely, and thorough support to staff, guests, and residents during safety and security concerns.
  • Give real-time feedback to safety team according to the Staff-Feedback Procedure.
  • Travel between properties in a C@P vehicle to monitor safety and security conditions.
  • Work closely with site staff and the safety team to address and resolve concerns.
  • Participate in training offered by C@P and community partners.
  • Serve as the primary contact for emergency responders during incidents and emergencies.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed by C@P leadership.
Complete Action Items and Reports Before Shift End
  • Complete all assigned action items, GPS coordinate checks, and incidents reports for contracted properties before the shift ends.
  • If an item cannot be completed, ensure it is properly addressed or communicated before leaving.
  • Follow C@P protocols and emergency procedures during incidents to support a calm and effective response.

Physical Requirements
  • This position requires walking long distances outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds or less.
Work Environment
  • Work may take place in close quarters with vulnerable individuals, including people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and unpredictable behavior.
  • This role includes both indoor and outdoor work.
  • The work environment is fast-paced and may involve frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
Other Requirements
  • Valid Oregon driver's license
  • Must have been a licensed driver for at least 3 years
  • Must have a driving record that qualifies for coverage under Church at the Park's insurance
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass all background check requirements set by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
Supervision & Guidance
  • This position works under general supervision.
  • The coordinator will receive regular direction, support, and performance feedback from leadership.
  • Success in this role requires initiative, dependability, and regular communication with supervisors about progress, challenges, and support needs.
