Manager, Cultural Heritage and Climate Justice
Summary
The Cultural Heritage and Climate Justice Manager will oversee the operational aspects of Chugachmiut's Climate Justice Committee project, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with grant requirements. This role is responsible for developing detailed project plans, managing timelines and resources, coordinating meetings and consultations, and ensuring collaboration between the committee, stakeholders, and partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management and grant management, strong organizational skills, and the ability to track expenses and prepare comprehensive project documentation. Qualified applicants have a strong background in Alaska Native self-determination projects and have successfully overseen a collaborative project that achieves long-term objectives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manages the Cultural Heritage and Climate Justice Readiness project, including scheduling, task management, and resource allocation between staff, contractors, and Commission members.
Facilitates Commission meetings, community consultations, and training sessions.
Acts as the primary liaison between the project team, Tribal Climate Justice Commission members, and external partners.
Ensures project goals are met and milestones are completed according to the project plan.
Ensures effective communication with Tribes, community partners, and individual stakeholders involved in Tribal Climate Justice initiatives.
Maintains the project budget, ensuring funds are spent according to grant guidelines.
Oversees project documentation, including reports, financial statements, and evaluations.
Track expenses and track budget adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and submit progress reports, clearly documenting achievements and challenges.
Qualifications
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in a related field.An equivalent portfolio of Indigenous linguistics, cultural heritage preservation, or climate resiliency grant management may be considered in place of the degree requirement.
3 years of experience contributing to successful outcomes for Indigenous cultural heritage or climate resiliency programs.
Previous administrative experience, including program coordination, staff collaboration, and fiscal management.
Experience developing and maintaining relationships with contracted workers or leading a team of employees.
The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Hours Of Work
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Chugachmiut maintains a drug/alcohol and non-smoking work environment.
