Job Overview

This position will provide operation and maintenance support for facility HVAC systems at White Sands Test Facility (WSTF).

This Union position is located at the NASA/White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM. We offer a competitive wage, pension plan, leave/health benefits, and 401 (k). We are looking to hire the right person in the right place! Consider joining our team.

Pay Rate: $40.90/hourly

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Be able to apply technical knowledge to solve problems that typically can be solved solely by properly interpreting manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents in working with equipment.\
• Be able to operate, maintain repair, install, adjust, and troubleshoot all types of air conditioning equipment including controls and electrical power to such equipment.
• Develop a working knowledge of the functions and operations of the operational equipment, systems, and controls at WSTF.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

• Must be able to perform duties consistent with the classification as assigned by management. Must be able to work with minimal or no supervision after receiving work instructions.
• Must be able to perform task working as a member of a team with other classifications and providing technical guidance to lower-level positions as required by management.
• Providing quality and timely support services.
• Impact on cost of operations and equipment, work must be performed efficiently, safely, and to the required standard.
  
  

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have two (2) years of applicable experience, or related civilian or military trade school training or equivalent plus three (3) additional years of applicable experience for a total of five (5) years of
• Must possess New Mexico Journeyman Refrigeration (NMJR) certification and EPA-approved Universal Refrigerant Handler
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state) and may be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License for a specific task. Operation of government-owned vehicles and mobile equipment is required.
• Meet requirements for certification, if applicable, as specified in the White Sands Training database.
• Must pass a physical examination as determined by the WSTF physical examination requirements for the job classification.
• U.S. Citizenship.
  
  

Working Conditions:

• Position requires routine outdoor work in a desert environment.
• Must have the ability to work in all environmental conditions.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities due to operational requirements.
• Subject working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis as part of normal shift scheduling.
• May require after hours work due to unforeseen outages or electrical emergencies.
• Provide quality and timely support services.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the physical ability to climb ladders and work elevated platforms.
• Must have the physical ability to regularly lift 40 lbs.
• Must have to ability to work in confined spaces
