POSITION SUMMARY
The Independent Living Activities and Transportation Assistant is responsible for assisting in the creating, planning, coordinating and direction of programs and activities to meet the social, intellectual, recreational, and spiritual needs of our residents while promoting an independent lifestyle. The position is part time at 20 hours a week with flexible hours to cover nights and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists Activities Director with the following:
- Communicates information regarding events, programs, activities, (i.e., monthly calendar, Uniguest/computer-based information system, newsletters, flyers, and posters).
- Oversees completion of event/activity set up.
- Works to create intergenerational programing with Christ Episcopal schools and church as well as with other schools/churches in the community.
- Responds to Northshore/regional community activities, always looking for opportunities to meaningfully connect residents in an educational and social way
- Creates organic activities/events with resident leadership that are stimulating and engaging. Activities that represent resident interests and passions.
- Engages residents in volunteer activities on and off campus.
- Picks up and delivers residents to all activities in a timely manner where transportation is needed.
- Completes a safety check of vehicle before transporting residents to and from scheduled trips or activities.
- Accurately records vehicle mileage and resident attendance for all scheduled transportation.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
- Notifies Lead Driver of necessary vehicle repairs and malfunctions.
- Notifies Director of concerns, problems, or incidents immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Some college or Associate Degree required with experience in activities or recreational services preferred.
- Desire to work with adult seniors.
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Must be self-motivated, energetic, creative individual with a hands-on approach.
- Must be flexible in scheduling to participate in planned activities.
- Must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license and/or Chauffer’s license. Must have a good driving record.
- Christwood will cover fees for certifications.
- Must be able to interpret and follow map directions.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Salary : $17 - $19
