POSITION SUMMARY: Ancillary member of surgical team who provides direct and indirect patient care and support. Takes initiative in ordering and restocking supplies, caring and handling of instruments and equipment.
Requirements
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification required within six months.
SKILLS:. Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English.
EXPERIENCE: One-year experience in an acute care hospital setting or health care environment preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
- Responsible to: Same Day Surgery/O.R. Nurse Manager
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogens - C
Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries. Intermittent exposure to one or more unpleasant physical conditions. May be required to carry up to 25 pounds and transport by wheelchair patients weighing more than two hundred pounds. Constant exposure to hazards such as communicable diseases, needle punctures, e-ray radiations, stress, and strain.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent physical effort, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and bending. Requires the ability to speak, listen, and communicate written materials.
