Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Seasonal Data Entry & Spreadsheet Specialist to support our tax office during peak workload periods. This role is ideal for someone who can work consistently during afternoon and evening hours, especially throughout tax season (January–April) with potential part-time hours during extension season (May–October). This role is responsible for accurately entering client financial data, organizing receipts, and creating well-structured spreadsheets used for tax preparation, bookkeeping, and internal reporting.
This is an on-site position with a flexible schedule and competitive pay based on experience.
Note: Smoking is not permitted on site or at the workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Data Entry & Organization
- Enter client financial information into spreadsheets and accounting software with a high level of accuracy.
- Digitize and categorize receipts, statements, and documents based on tax-related categories (e.g., utilities, supplies, travel, meals, payroll, etc.).
- Review data for completeness, consistency, and discrepancies.
Spreadsheet Creation & Management
- Build clean, easy-to-follow spreadsheets for tax preparation, year-end summaries, and client reports.
- Maintain organized client folders (digital and/or physical) to ensure efficient workflow.
- Create templates for recurring tasks (monthly expenses, income tracking, mileage logs, depreciation lists, etc.).
Support for Tax Preparation
- Prepare summaries of income and expenses for tax preparers.
- Assist with compiling audit-ready documentation.
- Communicate clearly with team members to ensure accurate information is provided for tax returns.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Excel (sorting, filtering, formulas, pivot tables is a plus).
- Ability to categorize financial information logically and consistently.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle confidential information.
- Prior experience in a tax, bookkeeping, or accounting environment is helpful but not required.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of common tax-deductible expense categories.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
