Job Description
The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is accepting applicants for a full-time Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to: review pleadings and correspondence and maintain in the correct case file and keep the case APA apprised, draft basic motions and correspondence, prepare discovery and draft discovery letters. The Legal Assistant will have daily contact via in person contact, phone and written communication with related agencies, the public, including victims and witnesses and defense attorneys and his/her staff. Occasionally, the legal assistant may accompany an APA to court to assist with docket entries. The Legal Assistant will also on occasion receive media inquiries.
Education / Experience
High School Diploma Required
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as paralegal studies preferred.
Minimum of three years of related experience though an Associate’s Degree can be substituted for three years of experience.
The Legal Assistant must be professional, courteous, have strong computer skills, keyboarding skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and must be able to readily identify and maintain confidential information. The legal assistant must become and maintain a MULES certification and is responsible to run criminal histories. The Legal Assistant must be able to pass a criminal background check a drug test (and will be subject to random drug testing) and is required to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $22.32 per hour
