Youth Director - Haymount United Methodist ChurchWe are seeking a passionate and dynamic Director of Youth Ministries to lead and inspire our youth community. Part-time (12-15 hours per week)

Goal of the position within the Church: To serve as a spiritual leader and role model for the youth, while integrating youth ministry throughout the church (HUMC defines youth as being grades 6-12)
Knowledge, skills, and attributes for position

- Must embrace Christian discipline and United Methodist doctrine and theology
- Travel is required several times throughout the year for mission trips, weekend retreats and youth activities
- Have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement ministry within the parameters of the UMC
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer/technology skills.
- Possess a proven ability to work effectively with youth, their families, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers
- Experience at other United Methodist churches is desired

- A bachelor of associates degree in a related field.
- A professional certification in Youth Ministry.
- Specific Duties and Tasks of the Position
- Participation in conference-wide youth activities Participation in district wide youth activities (generally 4 per year)
- Develop adult and youth leaders within the youth ministry
- Plan and execute all events that encompass a balanced youth ministry [a mixture of disciple building and fun activities] such as the mission trip, ski trip, trips to Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, the beach, the mountains, etc.
- Recruit volunteers to work with youth in all aspects of youth ministry and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratio, adhering to all Safe Sanctuaries policies
- Teach or assist with confirmation class
- Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget, including balancing costs for events among youth families and the church.
- Maintain communication with the church staff and leadership, parents, youth and congregation, including calendaring all events in cooperation with the church staff.
- Attend worship as well as have a visible presence in Sunday School for grades 6-12
- Support and attend the music ministries offered for youth.
- Pastors or direct supervisors may provide additional tasks that are consistent with the job description and can reasonably be expected to be accomplished within the position’s work hours.
