Job Description

The Hospitality Manager is a full-time leadership position responsible for the presentation, cleanliness, comfort, and operational readiness of Glorieta's guest-facing facilities. This role is first and foremost a people-manager and team leader, charged with developing, supporting, and holding accountable a hospitality team that serves guests and advances Glorieta's mission.

The Hospitality Manager provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and hands-on leadership for housekeeping, lodging operations, public spaces, meeting facilities, laundry operations, and guest amenities to ensure every guest environment is welcoming, functional, and distraction-free.

This role requires someone who enjoys developing people just as much as improving guest experiences. Candidates who prefer independent work over team leadership may find this role challenging.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead all non-food hospitality operations, ensuring quality, presentation, and guest readiness across campus.
  • Establish hospitality standards, work methods, inspection processes, and operating procedures.
  • Maintain hospitality standards across all guest-facing facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections and resolve issues before they impact guests.
  • Set clear weekly priorities and allocate labor resources.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, schedule, coach, and develop hospitality staff.
  • Supervise direct reports, such as: Housekeeping Lead, Housekeeping Associates, and Seasonal staff.
  • Provide coaching and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of care through recognition, encouragement, and celebration.

Hospitality Operations

  • Spend approximately 50% of time in the field and 50% planning, scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, and administration.
  • Manage hospitality services for retreats, conferences, schools, and special events.
  • Partner with other departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Plan staffing levels and labor allocation based on occupancy, seasonality, and event schedules.
  • Use guest feedback to improve hospitality operations and service standards.

Housekeeping & Guest Room Operations

  • Oversee housekeeping and lodging operations for all guest accommodations.
  • Ensure all lodging facilities are consistently clean, comfortable, safe, and guest-ready.
  • Establish and maintain standards for room presentation, furnishings, linens, amenities, and guest comfort.
  • Coordinate room turnovers, deep cleaning, inspections, and preventive hospitality maintenance.
  • Manage inventories of furnishings, linens, amenities, and hospitality supplies.
  • Monitor Lost & Found operations and improve the guest lodging experience.

Public Spaces & Event Readiness

  • Hospitality owns the presentation of guest-facing spaces. Maintenance ensures facilities function properly; Hospitality ensures every guest space is clean, welcoming, organized, and guest-ready.
  • Oversee cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of guest-facing spaces.
  • Coordinate meeting room setup and event readiness for retreats, conferences, camps, and special events.
  • Establish consistent setup and presentation standards across campus.
  • Maintain clean, organized, stocked, and inviting guest amenities and common spaces.
  • Partner with Maintenance to resolve facility issues affecting guests.

Laundry, Linen & Supply Operations

  • Oversee laundry operations and campus linen inventory.
  • Establish inventory standards and par levels for linens, guest amenities, housekeeping supplies, and hospitality consumables.
  • Manage procurement, storage, replacement, and distribution of hospitality assets.
  • Maintain inventory controls that support operational readiness and stewardship.
  • Monitor linen life cycles and recommend replacement schedules.
  • Build and manage hospitality vendor relationships.

Budgeting & Resource Management

  • Direct labor, purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and contracted services.
  • Maintain department records and purchasing documentation.
  • Monitor inventories of hospitality supplies, linens, furnishings, and guest amenities.
  • Identify operational improvements and cost savings.
  • Manage departmental spending within approved budgets.
  • Plan and prioritize annual hospitality improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • A vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of leadership experience supervising employees in hospitality, lodging, housekeeping, guest services, conference centers, camps, resorts, or similar guest-focused operations.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning standards, laundry operations, inventory management, and hospitality quality assurance.
  • Experience hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, developing, and evaluating employees.
  • Demonstrated experience leading housekeeping or lodging operations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead multiple priorities in a fast-paced guest environment.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Workplace, Google Drive, and Gmail.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel & Lodging Management, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • 5 years of leadership experience in hospitality, lodging, conference centers, camps, hotels, resorts, or similar guest-focused environments.
  • Experience in a Christian camp, conference center, ministry, or nonprofit organization.
  • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience implementing inspection and quality assurance programs.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets, purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Experience coordinating conferences, retreats, events, or large-scale guest operations.

Compensation And Benefits

Compensation starts at $18.00/hour with overtime pay.

  • On-site housing with utilities and appliances included
  • Medical coverage through CHM, employer-funded HRA, and pharmacy benefit plan - 100% paid by employer for employee and spouse
  • PTO - base amount of 20 days annually, sick leave, and volunteer time off Retirement - After 1 year of employment, employer contributes 4% NEC and up to 4% matched
  • Camp program and retail discounts, including a free session of camp annually, friends and family lodging options and use of camp facilities for personal gatherings
  • On-site meals for employee and family during the summer and special occasions
