What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR position at Christ The Rock Community Church Inc?
The Children’s Ministry Director for CRCC has the responsibility of teaming with families in bringing up children in the Christian faith; this is a vital ministry in the church. The Children’s Ministry Director establishes and oversees an effective children’s ministry to the church and works to provide an outreach to the children of the community as well as other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Leadership
· Coordinate ideas into a plan to provide ministries to children.
· Recruit and retain a willing and enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers.
· Study and understand the spiritual and developmental needs of children within the church.
· Lead children’s programs and ministries such as nursery, preschool, elementary, etc.
· Represent children and bring their needs and concerns before the church’s pastoral leadership and the congregation.
· Work with the senior pastor to determine short-term and long-term goals for the church’s children’s ministry.
· Remain current on trends, teaching methods, materials, room design, promotional ideas, administrative methods, and other children’s ministry techniques, and implement these as appropriate.
· Attend seminars and workshops on children’s ministry; attend training and seminars on safety and security for working with children; purchase books, tapes, and other resources for professional development and to distribute among children’s ministry staff and volunteers.
· Direct (or delegate direction of) related children’s ministries, such as Vacation Bible School, midweek programs, Christmas service, Easter weekend and special events.
· Collaborate with Student ministries to provide discipleship and a continuous presence from their age group into children’s ministry.
Operations
· Manage the follow-up process on all interest in serving as a volunteer
· Provide departmental training and support for volunteers in the children’s ministry.
· Mentor and develop other potential leaders for various aspects of ministry to children.
· Meet with staff and key volunteers for prayer, encouragement, planning accountability and team-building opportunities on a biweekly basis.
· Ensure that the church’s ministries for children run smoothly and with excellence.
· Develop and maintain appropriate safety and security guidelines for children’s ministry programs, including criminal background checks for volunteers and implementing training on child protection, and other procedures to ensure the safety and security of children participating in the church’s ministries.
· Oversee the plan for the monthly Life Group for all volunteers within KOR in order to build community within the teams.
· Support the involvement of staff and volunteers in the discipleship groups of the church.
Administration
· Maintain volunteer data in the Church Management System (Fellowship One)
· Oversee adherence to church policies and procedures for all volunteers
· Prepare and administrate the annual children’s ministry budget.
· Assess and recommend and/or purchase curriculum for children’s ministry programs.
· Attend all staff meetings, church activities/services and leadership meetings.
· Oversee the organization and selection of small group activities, crafts, activity stations and games.
· Oversee the volunteer overview process and personally interview all applicants for KOR prior to placing them in classrooms.
· Coordinate and conduct quarterly leadership meetings.
· Meet regularly with the Executive Pastor to apprise him of the status of the ministry

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Build a team of volunteers and develop a staff structure to meet the needs of connecting people with opportunities to serve.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

Education and/or Experience: Completion of college preferred. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; with a minimum of two years experience in related field.
Communication/Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general documents. Ability to write reports for data entered.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make basic arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.
Reasoning and Analysis Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form with attention to details.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work under pressure and ability to make decisions according to established guidelines. Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required. Must be able to use Microsoft Word, web-based ministry related software, Outlook, Excel, and proficiently type at an acceptable manner.
Ministry: Ability to identify the needs of others and precepts through effective verbal and listening techniques.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Handles staff, volunteers, visitors, congregants and vendors inquiries in a positive, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable manner, remembering God as their primary focus. Represents CRCC professionally at every contact with staff, congregants and vendors.
ATTENDANCE: Must be able to report to work consistently. Must be able to maintain an attendance record in compliance with CRCC policies and procedures.
