As a Chris Reeve Knives CNC Lathe Machinist/Operator, you will have a diverse and enriching experience from the get-go. Your job will entail producing precision machined parts for a well-established production knife manufacturing company. You will work primarily in hardware and lathe parts production, though additional help in the CNC mill shop may be required. The job is a full-time position, based in Boise, and designed for those who are interested in a truly comprehensive business experience.
As a Swiss Lathe Setup/Operator , you will:
- Setup/Operate Swiss style Lathes to produce knife parts (Star SR-20R IV, Star SW-12R II, Dmg Sprint 20|5)
- Use common Inspection tools to measure and inspect parts (i.e., Micrometer, calipers, indicators, and optical comparator)
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensional and finish tolerances on parts
- Properly fill out required paperwork (Work orders, time cards, etc.)
- Meet time and schedule standards for assigned work
- Perform non-Operator tasks when necessary
- Setup/Maintain tool life & offsets
- Modify program speeds/feeds
- Manage material inventory and work orders in your area
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Adhere to standard work schedule and promptly communicate when time off is required
- Perform daily and weekly maintenance and cleaning on equipment (i.e., filling lubricating oil, filling machine oil, general cleaning, and wiping down machine)
- Measure and analyze production parts frequently to ensure quality
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- 2 years Swiss lathe experience (setup/Operation)
- Completion of an apprenticeship/training program or 2 years of CNC machining experience
- Exceptional communication skills and confidence in receiving feedback
- Self-motivation with the ambition to learn and grow from others
- Fluent with NC-Code / G-Code programming language
- Initiative to complete tasks independently, from start to finish
- A keen eye for detail
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and comparators
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience working with various metal and plastic materials
- Basic math skills and ability to understand geometry and decimal places.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift more than 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for 10 hours a day.
Pre-employment checks:

Work Schedule:
Machine shop shift: Four ten-hour day shifts from 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Thursday with breaks and lunch.
Base Wage:
Our starting wage begins at $24-$28 per hour DOE for a Setup/Operator and increases depending on performance.
