Edgehill Nursing and Rehab 60 -bed skilled nursing center, is looking to hire an Activity Assistant. Edgehill offers rehabilitative services, skilled nursing care and long-term care services to our community.

The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals by organizing and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities. This position focuses on creating a positive and inclusive environment where participants feel valued, stimulated, and connected. The Activity Assistant collaborates closely with other team members to plan, implement, and adapt activities that meet the diverse needs and interests of the community served. Through effective communication and empathy, the assistant supports participants in developing new skills, fostering social interaction, and promoting overall well-being. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the emotional and physical health of individuals by encouraging active participation and enjoyment in daily activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a caregiving, recreational, or educational support role.
  • Basic knowledge of activity planning and implementation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience working in healthcare, senior living, or community center environments.
  • Training or coursework in recreational therapy, social work, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in using technology to support activity planning and documentation.
  • Bilingual abilities to better serve diverse communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and lead a variety of recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to the interests and abilities of participants.
  • Assist participants in engaging with activities safely and effectively, providing support and encouragement as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for all activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make adjustments to improve participant engagement.
  • Document participant progress and activity outcomes, communicating relevant information to supervisors and team members.

The Activity Assistant utilizes strong communication skills daily to engage participants and collaborate with team members effectively. Organizational skills are essential for planning and executing a variety of activities that meet the needs of different individuals. Empathy and patience are critical in supporting participants with diverse abilities and ensuring an inclusive environment. Problem-solving skills help the assistant adapt activities in real-time to maintain participant interest and safety. Additionally, familiarity with basic technology aids in documenting activities and tracking participant progress, enhancing the overall quality of the program.
