We seek a motivated, organized, and proactive candidate to manage the operational execution of our artistic activities and organizational systems, helping bring performances from conception to completion.
Responsibilities
- Artistic Operations
- Serve as primary liaison for musicians, including contracting, homestay assignments and host communication, and tracking musicians’ hours, compensation, travel reimbursement, and per diem.
- Serve as production manager for The Thirteen, managing venue coordination, stagecraft and instrument rentals, setup and strike, and stage management; act as primary production contact among venues, musicians, contractors, and staff.
- Provide on-site production leadership at all rehearsals and concerts, including setup of stands, podiums, risers, and music; coordination of rehearsal schedules and breaks; and venue reset following events. Coordinate rehearsal schedules with staff and venues, communicate production information to musicians and staff.
- Manage stagecraft deliveries; coordinate A/V needs at performance venues; arrange stagecraft labor as necessary.
- Lead in coordinating other production requirements as needed, e.g. lighting, projection, subtitles, props, etc.
- Supervise video livestream setup and strike; coordinate between video contractors and staff.
- Coordinate delivery of sheet music to musicians, including marking, transferring bowings, etc.
- Organize and maintain digital assets (photographs, videos, audio recordings, and sheet music).
- General Operations
- Manage donor-related data entry; process gift acknowledgments.
- Participate in Front of House responsibilities for concerts and special events.
- Oversee merchandise inventory, music library, and archives.
- Film and edit brief promotional videos.
- Maintain constituent and donor databases to ensure accuracy data integrity.
- Manage donor and box office reporting and data analysis.
- Serve as primary point of contact for patron and constituent communications via email and phone.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management, with strong project management skills; adaptability, empathy, and calm under pressure.
- An entrepreneurial spirit and excitement at the opportunity of working with a small team in a growing arts organization with strong support of The Thirteen’s mission and values.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds (risers, podiums, etc.).
- Flexibility to regularly work outside regular office hours for concerts/events, with reliable access to a vehicle for transportation needs and to transport production materials. Available for attendance at all The Thirteen rehearsals and concerts.
- In person attendance at all rehearsals, performances, and development events is required. In person attendance at weekly staff meetings is required. Ability to work remotely outside of concert/event weeks.
- Residence near, and travel within the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area is required. Residence in Washington, D.C. preferred.
- Education: this position requires excellent critical thinking and organization skills that are typically acquired through a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree.
- Experience: 3 years experience in performing arts production management preferred; experience in performance logistics or stage management is required. Experience with ticketing platforms and/or constituent record management platforms preferred.
- Musical Proficiency: Ability to read music fluently. Experience as a professional performer in our field is preferred.
- $55,000-60,000 per year, dependent on experience.
- Four weeks vacation per year, much of which is expected to be taken in the summer.
