What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Administrator position at Choices Women's Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for all Clinical Services provided at Choices Women’s Medical Center/Comprehensive Medical Care P.C. Reports to the President - Administrative Medical Director - Clinical, and works closely with the President, Medical Director, the Director of Clinical Services, the Director of Nursing, Chief Administrative Officer, and other senior staff to ensure the provision of safe, efficient, quality patient care. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
SCHEDULE:
- Tuesday - Saturday
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with the President and Director of Clinical Services at least weekly and collaborates with the President on strategic planning, program stability, program development, and program expansion.
- Works closely with the Medical Director to ensure that CHOICES functions in a coordinated, organized manner and consistently provides quality care and service.
- Assure compliance of environmental, equipment, air quality, fire and safety for Medicare certified ASC with the following regulatory standards: CMS, NFPA (national fire prevention act), Life safety code, ACHC PEC (physical compliance checklist) in conjunction with the Director of Nursing
- Oversight of environmental rounds and follow up throughout the Center to assure PEC compliance is maintained in collaboration with the Facilities Manager and Director of Nursing
- Assures reportable Incidents to the New York State Department of Health, adhering to the 5 and 45 Day Reporting Requirements in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
- Maintains the Center in compliance with New York City and New York State Regulations by implementing the QA Program, implementing, and monitoring new Regulations and monitoring established Standards of Care/ Policies and Procedures.
- Implements and maintains the requirements for accreditation of the Center by all regulatory agencies including the DOH.
- Represents the Center in meetings with and inspections by, all regulatory agencies including ACHC and the DOH with the Director of Nursing
- Provides clinical expertise and serves as a resource to the President.
- Serves as the medical-legal liaison with the Compliance Director for Risk Management issues. Remove this responsibility from the DON JD
- Liaison with back-up hospitals.
- Assists with management of Prenatal Care Program and Gynecological services at CHOICES.
LEADERSHIP:
- Accomplish human resource objective by recruiting, selection, orienting, training assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining clinical employees under the position’s supervision, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions,
QUALITY ASSURANCE:
- Coordinates educational programs for the staff; approves off-site educational programs; provides education to the staff; and conducts staff meetings.
- Ensures yearly Mandatory Education is completed by all staff.
- Coordinates with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and Director of Clinical Services the Quality Assurance and Risk Management Programs for the ASC and CHOICES comprehensive.
- Ensures a continuing preventive maintenance program for all equipment, as necessary with the Administrators.
- Assures that all clinical complaints are investigated, with follow-up and reports; ensures that Patient’s Rights are adhered to.
- Interacts with all Center Consultants (Pharmacy Consultant, Medical Records Consultant and the Infection Control Consultant), regarding reports and recommendations through Quality Assurance Plan of Corrections in conjunction with Director Nursing.
CLINICAL INTERN AND RESIDENT PROGRAM:
- Oversees the on-site clinical requirements for both national and international fellows and interns.
NEW PROGRAMS:
- Involvement with development of new programs with strategic planning and developing outside the box, network opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in Ambulatory Surgery and peri-operative nursing in a management position with a minimum of five years experience.
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- Accomplished record in working independently in clinical management in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and performs well under pressure.
- Demonstrates strong leadership qualities including team role modeling, problem solving, equitability, and effective communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
