DNS for ASC - Registered Nurse - Director of Nursing Services Choices Women's Medical Center

Choices Women's Medical Center, a leading historic Women’s Health Organization founded in 1971 seeks an experienced, pro-choice, committed RN to lead the nursing department of an Ambulatory Surgery Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises and directs all clinical services.

2. Meets with the President regularly to provide clinical expertise and collaborates with the President on strategic planning, updates, and research on reproductive healthcare services, program stability, program development, and program expansion.

3. Works closely with the senior staff and the Medical Director in a collegial capacity to stimulate group interaction and group problem solving.

4. Works closely with the Chief Administrative Officer and Medical Director to ensure that CHOICES functions in a coordinated, organized manner and consistently provides quality care and service.

5. Responsible for the direct oversight of all clinical staff for hiring, promotion, completion of performance appraisals and competencies, and complete ongoing mandatory programs to provide patient care and performance improvement. Coordinates educational programs for all CHOICES staff; including but not limited to annual in‐services.

6. Schedules Medical Staff, and reviews payroll time sheets for clinical staff.

7. Assures reportable Incidents to the New York State Department of Health, adhering to the 5 and 45‐Day Reporting Requirements.

8. Implements and maintains the requirements for accreditation of CHOICES by The Department of Health and/or regulatory agencies, in conjunction with upper management team.

9. Represents the CHOICES in meetings with and inspections by all regulatory agencies.

10. Serves as the medical‐legal liaison with the Director of Business Services for Risk Management issues.

11. Coordinates clinical rotations for Medical Providers at Choices.

12. Oversees nurse hotline scheduling, assuring adequate coverage for nurse hotline on rotating schedule, assures hotline logs are maintained, and participates in rotating schedule.

13. Assures adequate coverage in all clinical areas within scope of license.

14. Assumes a position, when necessary, in the Nursing coverage of the surgical floor during operating hours of surgical services.

15. Oversees the review of all abnormal labs, RH results, and Beta results by the Medical Providers and contact the patient to arrange for further treatment as indicated by the Provider.

16. Oversees the proper documentation of telephone encounters with patient in the EMR and appropriate patient follow‐up.

17. Assures maintenance of medication inventory, ensuring medications are adequately stocked and not expired and completes medication purchasing clinic wide.

18. Conducts routine environmental rounds throughout the Center; addresses negative findings, as appropriate, and reports the findings and actions taken at the QA Committee meeting.

19. Represents CHOICES with both internal and external customer relations and vendor relationships.

20. Assist with Depo-Provera administration for Choices patients.

21. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

1. Coordinates with AHS and the Medical Director, regarding the Quality Assurance and Risk Management Programs at CHOICES.

2. Coordinates the development, review, revision, implementation, interpretation, and monitoring of Policies and Procedures of CHOICES to ensure they are current, complete, code compliant, and reflective of the standards of care being provided at CHOICES in conjunction with the Ambulatory Healthcare Strategies, LLC team, who conform to the highest standards of care in the industry.

3. Ensures a continuing preventive maintenance program for all equipment, in collaboration, as necessary, with the Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Business Services.

4. Assures that all complaints are investigated, with follow‐up and reports and ensures that Patient’s Rights are adhered to in collaboration with the Chief Administrative Officer.

5. Performs nursing chart audits for Quality Assurance.

6. Serves as an assistant to the Medical Director for the Quality Improvement Committee.

7. Serves as the Infection Control Director and ensures the strict adherence to Infection Control policies; monitors practice of Infection Control Protocol; ensures autoclave cultures are taken regularly and properly documented; tracks patient and staff infections and generates IC reports to the CQI/RM Committee.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid/current NYS Registered Professional Nurse license, required

2. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, required

3. Minimum of five (5) or more years’ experience as a Nurse Supervisor or O.R. Manager, Women’s Health, Quality Management, and/or Risk Management, preferred.

4. Prior experience in peri‐operative nursing in a management position with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience.

5. Valid/current BLS/ACLS Certification

6. Accomplished record in working independently in clinical management in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and performs well under pressure.

7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for professional involvement in leadership role.

8. Bilingual, preferred.

Full time, Tuesday-Saturday schedule—competitive hourly salary.
