Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor clients’ health and safety by observing behavioral changes and vital signs, ensuring timely response to any concerns
- Administer medications accurately following care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect privacy
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation standards
- Maintain detailed documentation of care activities, client progress, and incident reports to support ongoing care planning
- Use specialized equipment when needed such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Certification in CPR, first aid, and basic nursing skills; additional training in hospice or hospice care is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of client information
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, families, and clients
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience, attentiveness, and a proactive approach to care-giving
