The Director of Finance and Administration is a member of the Leadership Team and will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and logistics of managing all finance and facilities functions of the organization. Serves as a member of the school’s leadership team and advises the President on finance, budget, and other items related to the administration.
Role Description
Finance Operations
- Participates in general and committee meetings of the Board of Directors and implements directives as delegated by the President. Serves as liaison to the Board Finance Committee.
- Develops administrative systems and procedures to support the day-to-day operations to reach operational excellence.
- Provides hands-on support with key aspects of school operations in areas of finance and budget, facilities, information technology, and oversight of payroll, AP, AR, tuition collection and other areas as needed.
- Develops and implements an operations plan. This includes meeting with the CEO to ensure increased effectiveness and efficiency in these key areas.
Facilities
- Develops facilities plan to ensure year-long services are met. Monitor and tracks facility work throughout the school year and problem solves any issues that arise.
- Works with the President and governance committee to set annual plans and reviews capital repair and replacement needs.
IT
- Oversees relationship with outsourced IT vendor
- Ensures the presence and functionality of appropriate technology to maintain the security of the students, staff, building and grounds.
- Ensures the organization’s technological needs are met for the schoolyear.
Reporting
- Provides monthly reports to President and presents at Board Finance Committee and Board Meetings as requested by President. The Director will work closely with the assigned Board committees as instructed by the President and provide administrative support to the Board meetings.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required
Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required; master's degree and/or CPA strongly preferred. PMP with accounting and finance experience considered.
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of progressive not-for-profit work experience in finance/accounting and business administration.
- Experience with facilities management preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel in particular, and database management.
- Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills.
- Highly detail-focused and results-oriented.
- Excellent time management skills.
