What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Acquisition position at Chirp?
Director of Acquisition
About Chirp
We’re not here to compete in an existing category — we’re here to create one. Chirp’s vision is to define and own Relief Tech: a new category built on the belief that everyday pain relief should be accessible, effective, and something people actually love. Our mission is simple: bring relief to as many people as possible, by making things people love.
Since 2015, we’ve been building innovative products — like the Chirp Wheel, the Contour, and the Halo — that help people feel better so they can do more. Headquartered in Lehi, Utah, we’re a fast-moving team on the ground floor of something big.
At Chirp, we care deeply about the why behind what we do. We’re building a world of relief — and we have a serious amount of fun and satisfaction doing it. You’ll see firsthand how every department (including yours!) plays a role in that mission.
The Role
The Director of Acquisition owns Chirp’s performance marketing engine — driving scalable, efficient customer growth across all paid channels. This is a P&L leadership role: you’re accountable for translating marketing investment into revenue, profitability, and long-term customer value. You’ll lead a high-performing internal team and manage key agency partners, operating at the intersection of data, creative, and channel strategy.
This role is a core driver of Chirp’s growth — owning the systems, strategy, and execution that convert marketing spend into revenue, while shaping how performance, brand, and product work together to scale.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Ownership
- Lead the performance marketing team and set the direction for how Chirp acquires customers at scale
- Own the performance marketing P&L — including budget allocation, efficiency, and return on investment
- Set clear goals, KPIs, and accountability structures across all acquisition channels
Strategy & Execution
- Set and execute the overall paid media and customer acquisition strategy
- Manage and optimize budget allocation across channels to achieve CAC, ROAS, and payback targets
- Build and scale a rigorous testing framework across creative, audiences, and offers
- Continuously identify and scale new growth channels and opportunities
Channel Ownership
- Oversee buying and optimization across Meta (agency partnership), Google Ads (direct), Amazon (global, agency partnership), Affiliate, and emerging paid channels
- Manage and optimize traditional marketing efforts where applicable
Agency & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with Chirp’s Amazon, Meta, and Podcast agency partners
- Hold agencies accountable to performance goals and ensure tight alignment on strategy and execution
Analytics & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Oversee marketing analytics, attribution, and reporting — ensuring clear, data-driven visibility across the organization
- Translate performance data into actionable insights that improve results and inform strategy
- Partner closely with brand, creative, finance, product, and operations teams on launches, budgeting, and growth initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 7–10 years in performance marketing or customer acquisition
- Proven track record managing and scaling large paid media budgets
- Deep expertise across Meta, Google Ads, Amazon, and DTC growth channels
- Strong P&L ownership mindset — you think like a business owner, not just a channel manager
- Experience managing both agencies and internal teams
- Highly analytical with the ability to translate data into strategy and execution
- Hands-on operator who can also lead strategically — you’re not above getting into the details
Bonus Points
- Experience scaling a DTC or wellness brand from growth to scale
- Familiarity with incrementality testing, MMM, or advanced attribution methodologies
- Passion for health, wellness, and the products Chirp is building
