What You’ll Do
- Perform high-mix, low-volume assembly of SMT and through-hole components on complex PCBs.
- Execute rework and repair of bottom-terminated components (BGAs, QFNs, LGAs) using advanced tools (hot-air pencils, hot plates, reflow ovens).
- Conduct thermal profile-controlled soldering (preheat, reflow, cooling cycles).
- Operate and maintain X-ray and AOI inspection equipment to verify solder joint integrity.
- Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and work orders for accurate component placement.
- Perform in-process quality checks and document results per IPC and company standards.
- Troubleshoot solder defects (bridging, tombstoning, voids) and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain ESD-controlled environments and follow all safety and compliance procedures.
- Suggest process improvements and tooling upgrades for continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years hands-on solder assembly in a production environment (6 years preferred for advanced rework).
- Strong documented soldering background with SMT and through-hole technology.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
- Skilled in soldering a range of component sizes (0201–1206, BGAs, QFNs, CSPs).
- Familiarity with soldering tools and equipment (soldering iron, hot air gun, reflow oven, wave solder machine).
- Knowledge of lead-free and RoHS-compliant processes.
- Ability to use microscopes, AOI, and X-ray for defect detection.
- Experience using rework equipment such as hot air pencils, hot plates, and BGA removal (ERSA or other OEM)
- Other Requirements:
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Education: Accredited High School Diploma or GED.
