Why does the job exist?
The Trainer/Coach works with the Protective Services workforce to build up their professional knowledge and practice through training, coaching, systems development of materials and projects and liaison with community programs. They work with the workforce individually and as units to ensure that they have knowledge of best practices for best outcomes and are able to utilize them in their practice to fidelity of the Protective Services initiatives.How does it get done?
Training Delivery (30%)Facilitates training sessions both in-person and virtually, ensuring content delivery is engaging, accurate, and accessible to all participants. Must be able to facilitate training at any location within their assigned region, and occasionally in other regions, requiring adaptability to a wide range of training environments. Will remain fully competent in facilitating trainings related to team initiatives as well as all onboarding activities for both the CYFD workforce and resource/foster parents, as they may be called upon to deliver these trainings at any given time. Trainings may occur during evenings or weekends based on program needs and may involve standing for extended periods and setting up physical training spaces. May also conduct train-the-trainer sessions as needed to support broader training capacity across the department.
Coaching and Learner Support (25%)
Provides tailored professional development services to enhance the workforce¿s ability to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed services to children, youth, and families in New Mexico. Delivers regular coaching both during and outside of training sessions to support the transfer of learning into daily practice by conducting skill assessments, offering developmental feedback, modeling desired behaviors, and promoting fidelity to child welfare best practices and tools. Conducts coaching in both one-on-one and team settings to reinforce professional growth. Responds to participant inquiries in a timely and professional manner and escalates training or coaching related concerns to supervisors as appropriate, assisting in their resolution. Strengthens workforce capacity and supports sustainable practice change through the use of emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and a supportive coaching approach.
Training Development and Improvement (20%)
Develops and continuously improves training content and materials while adhering to brand compliance. This includes creating and updating facilitator and participant guides, PowerPoint presentations, e-learnings and other documentation in compliance with branding standards. Collaborates with participants to set expectations and uses feedback to make iterative improvements. Stays certified in required training programs and ensure all content remains relevant and up to date.
Communication and Change Management (10%)
Develops and executes communication plans for training rollouts. Provides supply and initiative updates to the supervisor and partners on developing change management strategies for new training or development efforts. Contributes to the success of change initiatives by ensuring alignment with workforce needs.
Administrative and Learning Management Software (LMS) Functions (5%)
Attends to some administrative duties such as scheduling, managing attendance, updating calendars, ensuring availability of training materials, and resolving participant registration or technical issues. Uses the LMS to create training sessions and accurately track attendance data.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement (5%)
Works with a training evaluator and Instructional Designer to develop evaluation plans for new content and continuously reviews feedback to improve offerings. Assists with conducting needs assessments, generating reports for workforce development initiatives, and contributing to data used for legal and compliance purposes.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement (5%)
Collaborates closely with other trainer/coaches, internal departments, external stakeholders, and analysts to maintain data integrity, ensure training compliance, and support continuous improvement. Attends and participates in standing meetings hosted by leadership and engage in cross-functional collaboration to align workforce development efforts with agency goals.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in adult education, instructional design, instructional technology, human resources, employee development, training, and/or producing instructional aid/materials. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.Employment Requirements
Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 30 lbsSupplemental Information
