What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Documentation Specialist Outpatient position at Children's of Alabama?
- Job SummaryTo provide clinically based reviews of outpatient medical records to assess and procure accurate, complete, and compliant documentation of the patients’ visit encounter. The goal is to facilitate clinically appropriate physician and other clinician documentation of all patient conditions, treatments, and interventions to accurately reflect quality of care, severity of illness, risk of mortality and risk adjustment factor to support correct coding, reimbursement, and quality initiatives. Outpatient CDE specialists are heavily involved with provider and other clinician education. One-on-one education as well as group education is incorporated. Education will be held in formal or informal sessions
- EducationAssociates Degree required. BSN preferred.
- ExperienceFive years of nursing experience required (3 of these years must be in acute or outpatient setting), prefer pediatric experience. Will consider CDE experience in lieu of pediatric experience. CCDS and/or coding certification highly desired or willingness to complete after employment. Prefer experience with SCM electronic medical record and Soarian Financials.
- Licensures, Certifications, and/or RegistriesCurrent RN license. CCDS and/or coding certification highly desired or willingness to complete after employment.
