Position Summary

The Senior Director of Community Health and Wellness is responsible for developing and driving an enterprise-level Children's strategy to lead and influence on issues critical to children's health and well-being. The Senior Director provides organization-wide leadership on a comprehensive set of capabilities that facilitate Children's position in government/public affairs, community partnership and thought leadership. This position works closely with leaders in the health equity, equity and inclusion, continuous improvement, marketing/communications, education and research and other key functions to achieve the Collective's goal of maximizing Children's impact on community health. The Senior Director will lead the Center the key areas of: 1) Policy & Government Affairs; 2) Thought Leadership; and 3) Community Partnerships. This leader will oversee Children's Community Health Needs Assessment process. The role reports to the SVP of Government & Community Relations, Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in government affairs, public policy/affairs, communications, political science or community engagement required
  • Graduate degree in government affairs, public policy, community engagement, public affairs, communications, law or related field is preferred

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in government affairs, public affairs, health equity or community engagement, either with a non-profit organization, government entity or other organization
  • A successful track record of building and/or leading a function within an organization that required aligning multiple functions and complex, matrixed relationships
  • A successful track record working with community organizations and leaders to develop collaborative strategies, programs and initiatives
  • Experience working with elected officials and staff at the state and federal level to advance policy solutions in support of organizational priorities
  • Experience and interest in driving equitable and inclusive approaches in an organization and/or the community
  • Minimum of 10 years' developing, inspiring and leading teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in or supporting a communications function
  • Experience in or supporting an organizational education function
  • Experience in the healthcare industry

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong executive presence to interact with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of community partnership and health equity
  • Demonstrated understanding of government affairs at the state and federal level
  • Ability to foster an environment that promotes professional growth and staff development and builds motivated, high-performing teams through effective leadership and mentoring; ability to develop a culture of trust, openness, collaboration and mutual respect
  • Ability to advance community partnership, policy and thought leadership approaches that are culturally appropriate, accessible to diverse audiences and with particular attention to marginalized communities including but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQ and disabled communities
  • Strong collaborative, multi-disciplinary coordination experience that aligns functions/capabilities
  • Experience in developing, implementing and tracking execution of strategic plans

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
