The Manager, Modern Workplace Engineering (MWE) supervises highly technical staff to facilitate and participate in the planning, design, implementation and support of one or more networked systems. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring that procedures are followed, the proper documentation exists for networked systems, and provides top-tier support.
Responsibilities include:
• Own development, delivery, and management of all MWE services to support the business, including, but not limited to: - Desktop OS Deployment - Desktop Application Upgrades - Citrix Remote Access (Xendesktop/XenApp) - Citrix Provisioning Services - Horizon (VDI/AppStacks) - System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) - Microsoft Local Admin Password Solution (LAPS) - Printer Server Management - Hardware Selection - End-user Experience – Group Policy - Encryption (SecureDoc/Bitlocker) - Workstation Patch Management
• Serves as a technical consultant to the business, other IT platforms and external partners for Modern Workplace Engineering related technologies and services
• Manage internal MWE personnel and contractors. Grow and develop internal team, aligning goals and strategy with work
• Contribute to third party vendor contracts for equipment and services required to meet current business requirements, oversee the health of the MWE systems including maintenance, repairs and upgrades
• Direct reactive and proactive maintenance planning for MWE services to eliminate causes of service disruption and potential loss of revenue
• Act as escalation point for critical problems and incidents, work across teams to identify workarounds and drive ultimate resolutions.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of system architecture and operational documentation
• Ensure MWE operations are compliant with technology and security standards, strategies and roadmaps, liaising with Security and Compliance
• Create and track relevant Service Level Agreements (SLA) and customer satisfaction metrics
• Budget and manage total cost of ownership (TCO) for MWE operations and projects • Evaluate new and existing technologies to ensure "state of the art" solutions and services which focus on value added capabilities, continuous improvement, and realized cost savings
• Drive the release planning and deployment of new MWE services
• Manage projects through to completion including timely, effective communication and stakeholder input.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the day-to-day operations of the MWE staff
- Provide friendly, concise, and informed technical support for Information Systems Technology staff, MWE users, hospital staff, patients, and the public
- Works with Information Systems Technology architectural and management staff to design, select, and implement networked systems technologies
- Manages the overall health and performance of the networked systems
- Maintains technical competency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience. This is a technical management position requiring the ability to make decisions based upon the analysis of complex systems which can only be developed through post-secondary education or extensive experience in the field. OR
- High School diploma, or equivalent, and 7 or more years' experience. This is a technical management position requiring the ability to make decisions based upon the analysis of complex systems which can only be developed through post-secondary education or extensive experience in the field.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Preferred
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Preferred
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) Preferred
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) Preferred
- VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility Preferred
This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
