Occupational Therapist Assistant Certified

Job Overview

The Occupational Therapy Assistant – Certified I support professional occupational therapist staff, including direct treatment, data collection, activity planning and home programming for children, families, and staff. Assists the registered occupational therapist (OTR) in carrying out the occupational therapy program. The Occupational Therapy Assistant – Certified I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

Essential Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

• Assists occupational therapist staff with carrying out the occupational therapy program.
• Modifies selected interventions either to progress the patient as directed by the OT or to ensure patient safety and comfort. Collaborates with OT when a change in the plan of care is needed, prior to planned discharge and/or when there is a change in the patient's medical status.
• Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
• Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location, and time frames.
• Manages supply inventories and equipment maintenance - Working knowledge of basic therapeutic equipment and ability to use tools, and therapeutic media to construct basic adapted equipment for children.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• EDUCATION – Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• EXPERIENCE – None.
• EQUIVALENCY - None
• CERTIFICATION(S) – American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or ASHI Basic Life Support for Health Providers
• LICENSE – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  
  

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $24.72 to $37.08
