Salary: $45,760.00 to $57,200.00 per year (DOE)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 12pm-8pm & Wednesday: 9am-5pm. One week a month will be Monday – Friday: 8am-5pm.
Position Overview:
Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking an Employee Growth and Development Specialist to provide orientation, training, feedback, and continuous improvement to direct care staff at the shelter and in the residential end education programs across the state. What You Will Do:
· Mentoring and Coaching: Develop mentor-like relationships with new staff. Provide structured, consistent 1:1 meetings with new staff through first 6 months of employment. Provide scheduled time to shadow staff and provide hands on instruction during direct care hours. Provide individual staff feedback to supervisors as to ongoing staff training needs, areas of growth/opportunity. Random assessments of adoption of training via utilization of video reviews, and ability to provide confidential coaching to individuals during the video viewing. Review camera footage to provide feedback and training.
· Team Development: Provide group training to new staff through first 6 months of employment.
· Program Core Learning: Assist in overall annual staff training calendar development. Assist in providing annual staff training as needed. Assist new staff in securing additional training opportunities to help expedite staff growth and improve new-hire retention.
· Team Collaboration: Work with education and residential program leadership to establish and fulfill all program core learning needs.
· Ability to track and trend survey or assessment of training impact.
· Personal Development: Attend required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies.
· Review, schedule and carry out annual competency training. Write annual QI report related to competency training outcomes, strengths and areas of improvement.
· Collaborate with SCM to ensure consistency across programs/sites. Schedule a review of SCM and TBRI training collaboratively with trainers from all programs/sites to ensure continued consistency and adherence to curriculum.
· Demonstrate and model effective strategies that support the social, emotional, and academic growth of children. Support staff in meeting diverse needs of children through small group and differentiated, individual interventions. Contribute to the design of professional development opportunities that align with best practices.

Requirements
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Human Services
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in education or human services field. Coaching experience highly preferred.
· Licensure: Must be able to acquire Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Trainer status.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Residential treatment and education environment focused on care of children with behavioral issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
