Summary/Objective:

As a CHJC employee, the Casework Coordinator is committed to creating opportunities to enhance lives one relationship at a time. Essential Functions

  • Participates in the hiring process for new Case Planners and Watertown Program Staff
  • Mentors, supports, and professionally develops Case Planners and Watertown Program Staff through modeling, individual and group supervision, field observation, and training.
  • Monitors the Case Planners and Watertown Program Staffs’ weekly schedules.
  • Through goal setting, individual supervision, performance evaluations, and as needed, corrective action, enforces accountability for staff to meet foster care team goals and enforce Agency policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and approves documentation, ensuring all agency expectations and regulations are met.
  • Notifies Program Manager of any urgent or important issues with respect to Case Planners, Foster Parents and Youth in Care
  • In partnership with Compliance department, maintains oversight of data reports, ensuring all data is entered in a timely manner, and that all identified variances from standards are corrected.
  • Assists with developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans and goals for each youth/family.
  • Plans and attends team meetings, supervision, and treatment team meetings.
  • Partners with other agencies, organizations, and systems to provide the best services possible to children and families.
  • Gains and maintains familiarity with laws and regulations, which impact the child, family, and Foster Care system, and ensures compliance to said regulations.
  • Assists with Foster Care Program training (or other trainings), as necessary.
  • Participates in the Back-Up On-Call Rotation and advises Administrator On-Call of any issues which require notification per the prescribed protocol.
  • Acts as interim supervisor of the program in its entirety when the Foster Care Manager is absent.
  • Effectively manages crisis situations in an efficient and effective manner and maintains communication with the Foster Care Program Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Participates in and attends Agency fundraising and training events as requested by CHJC (These events may not be during normal business hours).
  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information, must be able to work with youth at risk, responsible for timely and accurate completion of all assigned duties, must exhibit good personal conduct, maintain a business-like appearance in manner and attire at all times whether on or off work grounds, obey all safety rules.
  • Attends training, as required or requested
  • Handles other duties as assigned by the Foster Care Program Manager

Work Environment

Work Environment: Office environment will require occasional travel to local schools, community settings, conferences and/or meetings and moderate travel within the community to include off-site/in-home visits. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.

Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

Full-Time, hours are flexible to the needs of the program including some evening hours.

Requirements

Travel:

Some travel may be required throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County).

Required Education And Experience

Bachelors Degree in Social Work or related field required, Master Degree preferred. 2-3 years prior experience working as a Case Planner is also preferred. Supervisory experience will be a plus. Familiarity with the OCFS Child Welfare System to include OCFS/DSS requirements and regulations.

Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to work with privileged information in an unbiased and ethical manner. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver’s license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire
