Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Team Lead and Pharmacist, this job is responsible for preparing unit dose medications, compounds non-sterile preparations, and delivering medication to patient care units.

Responsibilities

• Prepares drug products for checking and dispensing by a pharmacist; preparation includes selecting and preparing unit dose medication, compounding, repackaging, and drawing up patient-specific doses.
• Prepares non-sterile admixtures, including hazardous medications.
• Maintain professional/ethical standards by complying with laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice, using sound professional judgment, exhibiting reliability and credibility.
• Demonstrate empathy for patients and maintaining confidentiality.
• Complete required training and competencies required.
• Answer department telephones and assist the pharmacist with responding to inquiries.
• Perform computer entry for missing doses, patient charges and credits, and other documentation.
• Deliver or restock medications; deliver pharmacist code box; assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and organization of work areas and maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
  
  

Work Experience

• At least 2 years pharmacy-related experience preferred
  
  

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 20-hour ACPE accredited IV training course, except in First Pharmacy preferred
  
  

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire required
• Maintenance of CPhT Upon Hire preferred
