Summary
This position is responsible for administering the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Environmental Services (EVS) department of the Facilities & Real Estate (F&RE) division in order to provide a safe, clean, and supportive environment of care for the patients, families, physicians, and staff. The Manager is responsible for all EVS functions in their respective assigned areas under the guidance from the Director of Environmental Services. This manager-level position reports and interfaces in assigned areas with a thorough understanding of all internal and external processes related to all EVS activities. Responsible for the total cleanable square footage of assigned areas where services are provided by the EVS Department. Services provided by EVS include: Carpet cleaning; floor cleaning and buffing, floor stripping and re-finishing, trash removal, biohazardous waste removal, recycling, clean linen distribution, soiled linen removal, operating room (OR) cleaning between cases, OR terminal cleaning, 24/7 cleaning of the Emergency Department (ED) and Fast Track, office area cleaning, 24/7 restroom cleaning and re-checks, pest control, building exterior window washing, reusable sharps program, bed and crib management, confidential document destruction, and cubicle curtain cleaning

Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise functions and activities of the housekeeping department to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, orderly condition and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate department performance and implement changes to improve services. Maintain established hospital policies, procedures and objectives. Ensure quality assurance, safety, infection prevention and environment standards are met. As needed, establish and implement policies and procedures for department operation. Establish work standards and flow. Maintain all required records, reports, statistics, etc.
- Administer or oversee all personnel actions including staffing levels, recruiting, performance reviews and time keeping. Responsible for staff development, succession planning and mentoring new members of the organization.
- Manage the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies / materials. Maintain inventories. Assure proper functioning of all equipment. Provide essential equipment and supplies and maintain an adequate stock of supplies available / accessible to cleaning personnel. Assure that cleaning agents / housekeeping chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation.
- Lead administrative staff meetings, interdepartmental meetings and participate on committees as directed. Maintain professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
- Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job. Make minor repairs and adjustments on small equipment as required. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned i.e. filling in on the floor is short staffed.
How You’ll Be Successful:
- At least 3 years Managerial experience Req
- At least 2 years Experience in a healthcare setting at Manager level Pref
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
- The Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE): Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) within 2 years of hire or transfer to the role Pref
