The Dental Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a smooth and positive experience for patients throughout their dental care journey. This role serves as a key liaison between patients, dental providers, to coordinate appointments, treatment plans, and insurance processes. The coordinator helps patients understand their dental care options, facilitates scheduling and follow-ups, and ensures efficient communication within the dental practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage patient appointments, including new patient visits, follow-ups, and treatment procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding scheduling, treatment coordination, and general inquiries.
- Assist patients in understanding recommended treatment plans, timelines, and financial options.
- Verify dental insurance benefits and assist with insurance pre-authorizations when needed.
- Coordinate referrals to dental specialists and track completion of referred services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the electronic dental record system.
- Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments, pending treatment, and post-procedure care.
- Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and front office staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, addressing questions or concerns promptly.
- Support front desk operations including patient check-in, check-out, and appointment confirmations when needed.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in a dental office, medical office, or patient coordination role preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, treatment planning, and insurance verification is a plus.
- Experience with dental practice management software preferred.
