Position Summary

The Success Coach supports current and prospective college students by providing academic, administrative, and personal guidance throughout their college journey. This role requires strong knowledge of working with college-aged students, the FAFSA financial aid process, and CUNY systems and schedules. The ideal candidate is student-centered, organized, and flexible, with the ability to build trust and guide students through complex processes. Will report to the program manager. The incumbent will understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with the functions of the position.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one coaching and group support to college students.
  • Assist students with FAFSA completion, financial aid troubleshooting, and understanding award letters.
  • Guide students through CUNY application processes, course registration, and schedule planning.
  • Help students navigate academic requirements, deadlines, and campus resources.
  • Support students with time management, goal-setting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate regularly with students via email, phone, or in person.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners as needed to support student success.
  • Must be available to work for 15 hours a week.
  • Position requires flexible hours and occasional on-call availability during evenings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience providing coaching, advising, case management, mentoring, or student support services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including youth, college students, or underserved communities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and data management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
