Position Summary

An Educational Coordinator helps create and support a safe and welcoming environment conducive to effective learning for all students. The Educational Coordinator develops and implements work readiness programs that help to support youth (14-24 years of age) in their pathway to college and career goals. This includes developing internships, creating job shadowing experiences, job development, as well as pre and post-college graduation. This role involves creating curriculum, coordinating with coworkers, and ensuring compliance with DYCD guidelines.

Essential Duties

  • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Attend database management and agency training (DYCD/ Children’s Aid hosted) as required.
  • Develop and implement a 6-week curriculum that focuses on skill development and self-discovery, to build competence and confidence in young adults; includes group and individual tasks. A PDF copy of the 6-week curriculum is required for our review and DYCD audits.
  • Maintain attendance records, monitor program effectiveness, and report results.
  • Mentor and support youth with the opportunity and time to receive assistance, as well as make up any tasks missed due to an excused absence.
  • Instructional sessions are expected to be hosted twice a week via Zoom or Google Classroom; schedule and times of the sessions can vary. Each instructional session may have 25 to 50 young adults in attendance. You will be expected to assign, collect, and review independent work assigned to our young adults.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the youth development field and/or work readiness.
  • Associate degree required, bachelor’s preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with work readiness curriculum preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Experience or knowledge working with ZOOM and Google Classroom.
  • Must have experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for high school students.
  • Must possess effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

The incumbent is expected to work a schedule, whether in-person or hybrid, as determined by the department's needs to facilitate effective collaboration with the team. This flexibility is essential for maintaining seamless communication, fostering teamwork, and ensuring the smooth operation of the department's processes. The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
