Salary: $64,350-$72,000/yr

Position Summary: As a member of the Children's Aid Community School team at Curtis High School, the person selected for this role will be responsible for implementation of the mental health components for participants of the DYCD COMPASS High Program. The Social Worker MSW Mental Health will work mainly with Curtis High School 9th and 10th graders both individually and in group settings, during regular school hours and after-school.

Essential Duties:

  • Group Work - Leading socio-emotional group learning activities aimed towards building youth coping skills, enhancing self-esteem and reducing feelings of isolation. Also, developing and modifying content in response to the needs of participants.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to Identify and respond to the concrete needs of participants and their families.
  • Clinical Casework - Working from a strengths-based perspective to provide individual counseling and crisis intervention and/or referrals to the Student Health Center or outside resources, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with school staff and the Student Health Center to create school-wide promotions for mental health wellness.
  • Maintain documentation on our web-based data system, including contact information, mental health treatment plans, psychosocial assessments and case notes.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision, site supervision, weekly team meetings, and monthly Mental Health In-service meetings, staff development, and team building activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work or Masters in Licensed Mental Health Counseling required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with 14 -21 age group.

Key Competencies:

  • Group Work experience preferred.
  • The ability to quickly assess situations and develop interventions.
  • A High level of interpersonal skill is required in order to interact effectively with stakeholders, students and colleagues during periods of emotional stress.
  • Flexibility to use clinical skills outside of a traditional clinical setting.
  • Sense of humor.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
