DEFINITION:

A professional position charged with the responsibility of implementing the overall mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) of Lowndes County, Inc., through the administration of all office personnel, volunteer development, financial management, and interaction with related agencies. The Executive Director will be employed by and responsible to the Board of Directors and will carry out the purposes, policies, and programs of the Center as directed by the Board.


RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Administrative:


a. Performs the overall administrative tasks necessary to the effective operation of the Children’s Advocacy Center.

b. Initiates and works with the Board, officers, and committee members in the development of programs and other tasks assigned.

c. Prepares and recommends to the Board annual and monthly budgets prepared in consultation with the Finance Committee and the Treasurer.

d. Assists in search for additional funding and prepares funding applications and budget projections.

e. Initiates and maintains monitoring/evaluation systems for both the programmatic and fiscal aspects of services funded by various sources. Prepares timely and necessary reports and statistics required by various funding sources.

f. Facilities management team meetings and activities.

g. Responsible for data entry or delegation of data entry into the case tracking system (Collaborate)

h. Promote facility accessibility for other agency use, Law Enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, other Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) members.

i. Develops and implements fundraising strategies and initiatives

j. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field for both the National Children’s Alliance and the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia. Make recommendations to both the MDT members and the Board of Directors to comply with these standards for full membership.


Community Relationships:

a. In coordination with the Public Relations Committee, monitors and evaluates media coverage of the Children’s Advocacy Center.

b. Participates in national, state, and local organizations involved with child sexual abuse.

c. Provides public education and professional training.

d. Responsible for positive external representation of the CAC

e. Responsible for community networking

f. Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and state, national and regional centers

Supervision and Personnel Responsibilities:

a. Provides overall control and direction of the personnel function of the Children’s Advocacy Center.

b. Hires, terminates, supervises, and directs personnel in the performance of their duties and conducts regular performance evaluations.

c. Maintains personnel records and carries out personnel policies as established by the Board.

Program Development and Direct Service:

a. Develops and recommends to the Board specific, written, short and long-range plans for the development of programs and services.

b. Stays abreast of current local, state, and national issues important to the development of effective programs and services.

c. In relation to the goals and standards of the Children’s Advocacy Center and the Governor’s Office for Children and Families, evaluates the agency’s services, recommends, and provides input in regard to program and service improvements.

d. Oversees the development, enforcement, and modification of operation procedures.

e. Oversees Clinical Programs administered by the Clinical Director and Forensic Services administered by the Director of Forensic Services.

f. Facilitates ongoing communication with the members of the Child Abuse Protocol Committee, Multidisciplinary Team, Board of Directors, Advisory Board as well as other community professionals.

g. Maintains and manages existing grants, and ensures compliance with all funding agency requirements including all reports.

h. Manages the extension process for existing grants.

i. Seeks, applies for and obtains additional grant funding.

j. Maintains confidentiality regarding reports, cases, families, and children served.


Family Advocacy

a. Provide non-offending caregivers with overview of the CAC and services available through the CAC in the Family Advocates absence.

b. When appropriate provide and submit victim’s advocate compensation forms.

c. Ensure that all staff work with the entire multidisciplinary team to provide crisis intervention for victims and families referred to the CAC.


Forensic Interviewer

a. As needed, complete Forensic Interviews and all reports.

b. Participate in Peer review as a trained forensic Interviewer.

c. Maintain any required trainings and facilitate trainings related to forensic interviewing.

d. As needed, facilitate MDT meetings.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in a social service agency or a closely related field; at least two years of administrative experience; experience in working with victims of child sexual abuse and their families; experience in grant writing highly desirable; professional licensure or licensure-readiness preferred.
  • Management skills necessary to conduct the financial, personnel, and administrative duties of a social service agency such as the Children’s Advocacy Center.
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and services available to children and families.
  • Ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with Board of Directors, community groups, associates, staff, and general public is essential.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience working with victims of child sexual abuse and their families.
  • An ability to work with clients from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Will be subject to criminal background information, as required by law.
