What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention & Outreach Specialist position at Children's Advocacy Center of Hampshire County?
The Prevention and Outreach Specialist will play a key role in advancing the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hampshire County’s mission of promoting safety, healing, and justice for children and families. This position focuses on delivering prevention education and outreach programming to children, teens, caregivers, parents, and educators, as well as representing the CAC at community events. The Specialist will support the Director of Prevention and Outreach in expanding the CAC’s community engagement and ensuring the effectiveness of prevention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver prevention and safety training to children, teens, caregivers, parents, and educators in school and community settings.
- Represent the CAC at community events, presentations, and outreach opportunities.
- Prepare, organize, and distribute materials for trainings, workshops, and events.
- Provide education and outreach in alignment with CAC’s prevention curricula and goals.
- Assist with administrative tasks to support prevention programs, including scheduling, data collection, and reporting.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all mandated reporter responsibilities.
- Be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Prevention and Outreach.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
- Passion for child abuse victims and their families, and willingness to learn about the child abuse system and family dynamics of child abuse.
- Engaging public speaker with ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated success in developing and presenting materials for varied learning styles.
- Comfortable discussing sensitive topics and facilitating inclusive conversations.
- Proven ability to conduct outreach and engage new audiences.
- Passion for building an empowered community where all children and families have equitable access to safety, healing, and justice.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Highly motivated, task-oriented, and independent worker.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative to bring forward new ideas and see them through.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously and work collaboratively and effectively on a team.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must pass a thorough background check.

- Familiarity with the dynamics and impacts of abuse and interpersonal violence.
- Familiarity with Hampshire County social service, medical, mental health, and legal systems.
Reports to: Director of Prevention and Outreach
- Part-time, 20 hours/week (ideally Tuesday–Friday, 10 am–3 pm, with flexibility as required)
- $25/hour. This position is currently grant-funded through June 30, with the possibility of extension pending additional funding.
