The Onsite Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field operations of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. This role serves as the primary point of coordination between subcontractors, vendors, and the project management team.
- Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Oversight
Manage all onsite construction activities from mobilization through project closeout
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
Ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes
Maintain project schedule and proactively address delays or conflicts
- Scheduling & Planning
Develop and maintain short-term (2–3 week lookahead) schedules
Coordinate sequencing of trades to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
Participate in project planning meetings and provide field-driven input
- Quality Control
Enforce quality standards and conduct regular inspections of work in place
Identify and correct deficiencies in a timely manner
Ensure proper installation methods and manufacturer requirements are followed
- Safety Management
Enforce all company and OSHA safety standards on site
Conduct daily safety meetings and jobsite inspections
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Communication & Documentation
Serve as the primary onsite contact for project stakeholders
Maintain daily reports, logs, and photo documentation of progress
Communicate progress, issues, and changes to the Project Manager
Assist with RFIs, submittals, and change order documentation
- Site Management
Coordinate site logistics including deliveries, equipment, and access
Manage site layout, staging areas, and material storage
Oversee jobsite security and protection of completed work
- Qualifications
5 years of experience in construction supervision (commercial preferred)
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and maintain project schedules
Solid understanding of safety regulations and jobsite enforcement
Proficient in construction management software and reporting tools
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Preferred Qualifications
Experience in [roofing / commercial roofing / specific trade, if applicable]
OSHA 30 Certification
Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
- Physical Requirements
Ability to walk job sites for extended periods
Ability to climb ladders and access roofs or elevated work areas
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs as needed
Ability to work in varying weather conditions
